Guinea Hen Chicks
Guinea Hen Chicks A game bird that originates from Africa, they are excellent foragers, who love insects, and make great watchdogs because of their cackling at any stranger. They are silvery black in colour, and their meat is similar to pheasants, and will weigh 1 to 1.5 kilos in 12 to 14 weeks.

Chukar Partidge Chicks A grey-brown game bird with distinctive colouring which originates from Asia. They are excellent for release and hunting and are also great for eating, weighing up to 1 kilo.
Bob Quail
Bobwhite Quail Chicks Native to the south and east of the U.S. as well as Mexico. The hens are mostly light grey with white spots, the males have a distinct white throat and white stripe over its eye. They mature in about 12 weeks weighing 300 to 500 grams. They make for great hunting. Are very good flyers and songbirds.
Coturnix Quail Chicks
Coturnix Quail Chicks Also called Japanesse quail, these birds are native to Africa, Asia and Europe. The females are light tan with black striping on their throats and upper breast. The males are rusty brown in colouring. They mature quickly, in about 6 weeks, weighing 200 to 450 grams. Excellent for hunting, they are also good songbirds.
Barred Plymouth Rock
Barred Plymouth Rock This popular "old time" breed has black and white barred feathers and is a good choice for a dual purpose bird. Barred Rocks are good layers of brown egg, they are hardy and free range well, Pullets weigh up to 2.0 kilos and cockerels up to 2.5 kg in 18 weeks. Feed conversion much lower than white rock.
Rhode Island Red
Rhode Island Red This "barn yard breed" looks very attractive with its mahogany (red) coloured feathering and is an excellent layer of large brown eggs. Pullets can reach 1.8 kg and cockerels 2.3 kg. in 18 weeks.
Welsummer
Welsummer A very colourful backyard breed: hens are a brown partridge colour with gold around their necks and roosters are brown red gold and black. This bird is friendly and lays a beautiful dark brown egg.
Jersey Black Giant
Jersey Black Giant All black in colour with a green sheen: The Jersey Giant is a large breed of chicken which is slow growing and the hens lay a nice brown egg. Cockerels reach 4.5 kg. and pullets can reach 3.5 kg.
Buff Cochin
Buff Cochin This large feather footed breed can become very tame: the hens make good brooders and lay a brown egg.

Black Silkie Another friendly Bred: The Silkie has feathers that look and feel more like fur. Silkies are an attractive addition to the backyard flock, hens go broody often and make excellent mothers.
